	For the student of Natural History the West Wight is a must. Whether it be the soft grasses and wild flowers - primroses, cowslips, violets, vetches, thyme and orchids which carpet the downs, the coastal woodland and rocky shoreline	around Fort Victoria, the red squirrels along the banks of the Western Yar, the beeches and conifers of Brighstone Forest or the teeming wild life on the Newtown Nature Reserve, throughout the year there are sightings to record and discoveries to be made in this natural wonderland that is the West Wight.
